Welcome to the Aich Laboratory for Environmental Nanotechnology and Sustainability (#AichLENS) within the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering in the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York (SUNY). The lab director, Dr. Nirupam Aich, is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering at UB. research focuses on the development of safer-by-design nanomaterials for the advanced water treatment and resource recovery. The group's research also entails the evaluation of the environmental and human health implications (e.g., fate, transport, and toxicity) of nanomaterials and nano-enabled products including electronic wastes. His research interests also include the environmental fate and toxicity of emerging contaminants.
Prospective graduate students interested in joining #AichLENS should send email to Dr. Aich with their curriculum vitae, transcript, GRE, and TOEFL scores, and inquire about open positions. Due to significant volume of emails, Dr. Aich may respond in a slow rate. Already admitted Master students in the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering program are encouraged to contact Dr. Aich with their interest to join the lab.
#AichLENS encourages motivated and aspiring undergraduate students from Engineering and Science disciplines for participation in research. Students are also encouraged to consult UB's NSF-REU Program on Environmental Engineering Solutions for Pollution Prevention (EESPP) for summer research fellowships; especially students from under-represented communities are highly encouraged. Voluntary research opportunities are always existent for UB undergraduates.
#AichLENS currently doesn't have any funding for postdoctoral appointments. Visitng Students/Scholars, and Researchers/Faculties in Sabbatical with their own funding are encouraged to consult Dr. Aich for research opportunities.
